So I hear some cities want to pass a law against kids that wear pants so low their underwear are showing. Do we really need another law on the books to get kids to pull up their pants? What happened to their parents, you know the people that were supposed to teach them to pull up their pants? I really think this situation could be handled with the Public Indecency Laws. We really don’t need to create another law. This could also help with the Bike Week issues and the bare behinds while riding/driving down Hwy.17. Quit making so many new laws and let the Police enforce the ones we already have.

If your neighbors want to party all night and you have to get up early to go to work, just do what some friends of ours did. The next time they keep you up late, you need to get up early the next morning, or better still, have one of your kids get up real early and mow the area of your yard closest to the offending neighbor. Needless to say if you mow the yard or should I say run the mower over the yard for about an hour or so this should help with the late night noise. If not, have one of your kids take up a very loud band instrument, possible the drums and let them practice early in the morning so you neighbors can enjoy the practice sessions. Heck, invite other kids in the band over for a jam session, just be sure wear get yourself some ear plugs to wear!

So Myrtle Beach City council wants bikers to wear helmets to protect us bikers so this would mean city law should out way state law? Shouldn’t we be more concerned about those folks in golf carts and on mopeds? Sure they probably don’t have a license to drive but just think if a car hit a golf cart full of kids or retirees? There again maybe we should all wear bubble wrap and helmets, in our cars, trucks, SUVs’, golf carts, mopeds, and motorcycles. There again maybe just the City of Myrtle Beach council members need to wear helmets and bubble wrap! Grow up people…we live in an area that is open 24/7 and invaded by tourist of all kinds and there will always be things we don’t like. If living here makes you that miserable, MOVE! Being born and raised here we locals have had to adjust to a lot of things that we don’t like but we try not to discriminate against golfers or bikers…even if they are Yankees!

You know it’s really interesting that the MB City Council is trying to get rid of the bikers when the gas prices are so high that the bikers maybe the only ones that can afford the gas to go on vacation! And as for the travel time when the bikers are in town…well it takes me just as long to get home in the summer time when the rest of the tourist are here which is almost an hour long trip. Just for comparison, my trip to work takes about 20 minutes.

As we are between the two spring bike week events, I thought I would start off with a reply to a question that I have heard from a number of cage drivers. “Why do motorcyclists ride so close to the center line?” and the reason is that oil and other fluids are generally dripped from cars and trucks into the center of the lane and that can be very dangerous when you are on two wheels. There are a number of other reasons why bikers don’t ride in the middle of their lane such as lane positioning...so the bike rider can see and be seen by the traffic around them.  However bikers please don’t ride on top of the white line or have body parts hanging over the white line into the other lane of traffic!

I have lived in the Murrells Inlet area all of my life and have been riding motorcycles for about 10 years now. I think it would be good for every driver and bike rider take the Motorcycle Safety Course out at H-G Tech. as it was a much better course than the drivers training we had in high school.
